(Saint) Valentine's Day is a winter holiday celebrated on February 14. Named for two early Christian martyrs, the holiday became known as a day for romantic love during the Middle Ages.

Valentine's Day is still celebrated as a day of romantic love by adults, who give gifts of flowers, chocolates, jewelry, perfume/cologne, and romantic dinners. Friendship and familial love are celebrated by younger children, who commonly make and exchange Valentines in school.
