Easter is the most important religious feast on the Christian calendar. The holiday always falls on a Sunday and celebrates the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth after his crucifixion on Good Friday, two days before. Easter is termed a "moveable feast" because it is not a fixed holiday. It is celebrated at some point between late March and late April (early April to early May in Eastern Christianity) every year.
Non-religious Easter traditions include the fun and furry Easter Bunny, a.k.a. Peter Cottontail, coloring hard-boiled eggs, baskets filled with goodies, and Easter egg hunts, where various types of eggs (hard-boiled and colored, chocolate, and candy filled plastic) are hidden for children to find on Easter morning.
